Intertidal Therapeutic Massage
Megan Sherman, Certified Massage Practitioner
Integrating Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Swedish and Orthopedic Massage techniques, to support your natural healing processes, and your mind-body health.
I use a variety of techniques and an improvisational style to support your natural resilience and assist you in addressing strain in your body. I work slowly, honoring the level of pressure that feels right to you. By actively listening to you and your body, I combine tools such as myofascial release, acupressure, yoga, and muscle energy techniques (MET) in an attempt to create the optimal therapeutic effect, and support you in experiencing health and vitality. I love working with people to find recovery from pain, increase joint mobility, and find fluidity and ease in movement and life. We can have a flowing, deeply soothing massage, or a specific and actively therapeutic session.

Background
Over the past 17 years living in Haines, Alaska, I became a huge believer in the power and effectiveness of massage while overusing muscles in my body moving large salmon around for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. I found long term recovery from repetitive use injury without having to take the path of more serious and costly intervention. I also received the gift of awareness of my power to participate in my own healing, and support others in theirs. Since starting my massage practice in 2003, I have worked privately, as well as with a chiropractor in Juneau, and have received over 500 hrs of training, from Heartwood Institute in California, The School of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin, the San Francisco School of Bodywork and Massage, and Esalen Institute. I relocated to Santa Cruz with my family in 2010, and I am delighted to work with the Toadal Fitness community.
